EDUCATION: NIGERIAN NAVY SECONDARY SCHOOL OGBOMOSHO TO HOLD PASSING-OUT-PARADE FOR ITS GRADUATING STUDENTS; AS OYO EDUCATION COMMISSIONER FELICITATE WITH THE COMMANDANT, CAPATAIN EVELYN EGWURUBE

The Commissioner for Education Science and Technology Oyo State, Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola has shown deep concern on the infrastructural state of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Iresa Apa, Ogbomosho, during the school Commandant, Captain Evelyn Egwurube visit to the commissioner in his office to brief him about the passing out parade of the graduating students at the college holding, Tuesday 29th of July 2025.


Captain Evelyn was on courtesy call to the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology to invite him for the forthcoming event and to remind the commissioner on their earlier request to seek collaboration with the Oyo state government in the area of infrastructural development and other educational support.

The Commandant, NNSS Iresa-Apa Ogbomosho explained that the school is situated in the state and has directly impacted the lives and development of the town and its environment. The Commandant noted that 98% of the school academic and non-academic staff are indigenes of Oyo. Thus, the need for the state government attention in the area of infrastructure and other education support. The Commandant, Captain Evelyn Egwurube, revealed that since the establishment of the school there have been many projects that are directly meant to impact the social, mental and physical wellbeing of the students. These projects include the library, Assembly Hall; which can also serve as events hall for various social event in the school, internal road networks and dining hall structure with different departments of a world class dining hall of a boarding school. She further noted that the school bus and ambulance meant for the school health facility are in pitiful condition. 

Though she expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy Headquarters who have taken up the administrative building project.

 In his response the honourable commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Segun Olayiwola congratulated Captain Evelyn Egwurube on her new promotion to the rank of Captain and prayed for the successful passing out parade day of the school. 


“I appreciate the vision and courage of the commandant of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ogbomosho for the hands of fellowship she extends to the ministry and the government of Oyo State, the ministry will do everything in her capacity to see to their needs in either facilitating those that can be of help and also facilitate State government interventions for the College”. 

Navy is a very noble profession which I would have love to join several years back but I was convinced by my family members to pick up political role having graduated from the university then, so I congratulate you on behalf of the ministry and I assure you the ministry will see to your needs”. Hon. Olayiwola said. 

On the transportation, the commissioner said the current Omi-Tuntun bus plying the road for staff, students and residents of Iresa-Apa of Ogbomosho for easy access to the school and off the college at the closing, commissioner promised to liaise with the transport service chairman so that the bus can extend her reach to the school in the morning and closing time.

He also noted that he will brief His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and see other areas the government will intervene.

Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola promised to do on the spot assessment of Nigerian Navy Secondary School Ogbomoso at a fix date which will be communicated in no distant time.

 Among the dignitaries at the courtesy visit were top officials of the ministry of education and two principal staff of the school
