Impeachment scare in Oyo: Why Gov Ajimobi cannot travel

Like the sword of Damocles, the impeachment saga dangling on the head of the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi seems not to have fallen.
Recently there were allegations, denials and counter-allegations that the State's House of Assembly members were plotting to impeach the Governor.
The news was said to have hit the Governor who called the attention of some of his loyalists in the chamber who granted interviews in the newspapers to douse the tension and assured the Governor that nothing like an impeachment move was considered against him.
The Governor who was obviously troubled was said to have raced to some power brokers in the state who also gave him their words that nothing would happen.
The impeachment scare gained some ground yesterday when the lawmakers met amidst tight security yesterday where their plan to serve the Speaker, Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu an impeachment notice but they were unable to do so because the woman was observing the Umrah in far away Saudi Arabia, a plot they plan to perfect when the House resumes on August 28th. The Speaker is one of the closest allies of the Governor.
A source revealed to City Info that some recent defection in the House of Assembly has given the opposition the required two-third they needed to impeach the Governor.
The Governor who was alleged of high-handedness, nepotism, misappropriation among many others was said to have been unable to observe his usual hajj which he does annually for the fear of the unknown as he choose to stay in Ibadan to put the House in order.
The Governor was also said to have secretly tried to reach out to influential monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo but the body language of the powerful monarch was said not to be favurable as the Governor was said to have disobeyed him in the past and the Alaafin sees this as the time to claim his pound of flesh.
The Oyo Governor who was able to muster enough votes to defeat incumbent Governor Alao Akalain 2011 with the help of the Alaafin of Oyo and late Ibadan billionaire, Aare Arisekola Alao was said to have missed Arisekola so much that he confessed to some of his aides saying 'if Aare was alive he would have fixed all these mess for me, I don't even know what to do and who to trust'.
The death of the Aare Musulumi, Alhaji Arisekola last month has left a huge vacuum in the State political circle.
The Governor has in the past benefitted immensely from Arisekola's wisdom, influence and wealth which he readily used to set up a solid support for the Governor.
The impeachment plot was believed to be the handiwork of some political stalwarts in the State(even in APC) who do not enjoy the Governor's style of leadership, his stubborness and the many he talks down everybody.
Aside this, it was also gathered that the Governor is unpopular in the Government circle as he, his immediate family and the Commissioner of Finance were the only ones gaining from his government as he doesn't create the avenue for his Commissioners, Special Advisers and Permanent Secretaries to benefit unlike the other past administrations.
Another source hinted that the impeachment plot was targeted at unsettling the Governor so that he would not be able to focus on his campaigns for second term.
A source close to the State Governor also disclosed that the Governor was aware of the plot by the opposition to rattle him with a promise that he has all his takes to check-mate their evil plot.

SSS detains, grill Oby Ezekwesili for 30 minutes

An unusual event happened this morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja when operatives of the Department of State Security this morning seized the international passport of the Coordinator of the BringBackOurGirls group and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili while on her way to catch a flight to the United Kingdom.

Ezekwesili  passport was confiscated by the security operatives and she was prevented from boarding her flight after she was forced to answer many questions bordering on where she was going and the purpose for the travelling.

Her passport was however released to her about 30 minutes later and the BBOG campaigner was allowed to board the plane.

Ezekwesili later tweeted to her followers that she did not allow the security personnel to trample on her rights.

She tweeted,” @obyezeks: No ONE can SEIZE my DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS. I REFUSED to let the SSS GET AWAY with TRAMPLING on my CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.”

The former minister had been at logger-heads with the government over her campaign for the release of the 219 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.

The daily sit-outs by the BBOG members at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja, has been a sore point for the Federal Government which accused the movement of being sponsored by the opposition party.

She was on her way to London for the programme BBCHARDTALK billed for tomorrow 22nd August, 2014.

Fayose stun siblings! Shuns victory party

The Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Peter Ayo Fayose is a man that reaps from controversy.
The politician who made statement recently by defeating the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has been showing his other side just some weeks after his victory at the poll when he lambasted ex-President Obasanjo, the Governor-elect has done the inevitable again as he shunned a 'victory' party held in his honour by his siblings and friends.
The party which held in London some days ago was sponsored by one of Fayose's siblings, Isaac and London based PR guru, Segun Akinyemi.
The party also had Ayo Fayose's brother, Emmanuel and Sister, Abefe, Chairman PDP UK South West Chapter, Kenny Aluko, Engineer Remi Akande, Segun Thompson and other PDP stakeholders in attendance.
The Governor-elect was said to have given his word to attend the party but chose to be absent on the night of the party.
A source revealed to City Info that the organisers who already had Fayose's promise to storm the party in company of his friends and followers were stunned when he failed to pick his phones on the night of the party.
All the frantic efforts to reach him proved abortive and his phones were said to have later been switched off.
No one present at the party could explain the reason why he decided to be absent and the humiliation and shock of the organisers.
The Master of Ceremony was said to have started the party when it eventually dawned on them that the person they were about to celebrate has boycotted the party and they carried on with the activities, drinking and taking turns to snap with the banner where his photograph was displayed.
What was meant to have been an evening of fun and merriment turned out not to be as guests who thought they would have an opportunity to see him left the party dejected.

OGBOMOSO RECREATION CLUB BERATES AKIN OKE FOR HIS UNCHARITABLE COMMENTS ABOUT THE CLUB

The attention of Ogbomoso Recreation Club,(ORC) was sometimes ago drawn to a press statement issued by one Dauda Kolawole in which Mr. Akin Oke, the Chairman of All Progressives Alliance,(APC) in Oyo State was copiously quoted as passing scathing and uncouth comments about the Club. It is recalled that shortly after the annual election of officers of the Club when Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala was returned as Chairman the APC issued a press statement credited to Mr Oke in which the former Governor was derided as' presiding over bottles of beer and women of easy virtues'

The Club did not react at that time because it gave Mr. Oke the benefit of doubt that he could not have deliberately disparaged the reputation of Ogbomoso Recreation Club. Nevertheless, we wondered why an Ogbomoso indigene and a member of the Club for that matter would pass such sinister remarks about his Club. We even felt at that time that Mr. Oke must have been caught in the web of some overzealous aides who write their scripts without due consultation with their principals. We however expected Mr Oke to have noted that the rampaging publicists in his party had caused a collateral damage to the reputation of his own Club in the course of carrying out their chores. If he was indeed not party to their mud-slinging, he ought to have called their attention to the embarrassment that they had caused him.

However, we were amazed that because the earlier unprovoked attack on our Club by Mr. Oke was left unattended to, the same person has found it convenient to revisit the issue and restate his earlier comments that the Club is all about drinking beer and hosting women of easy virtues. The same hack writers have exhumed their attack on the Club in their attempt to lynch another Ogbomoso illustrious son, Senator Ayoade Adeseun for reason of his decamping from APC to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. We think that the correlation being drawn on this occasion between voluntary decision of a politician to change his party affiliation and the credibility of our Club is far-fetched, unreasonable and untenable. Does Oke know that Senator Ayoade Adeseun is not even a card carrying member of the Club? So, what is all the fuss about?

On the other hand, Mr. Oke himself is a member and a caller at the Club and we wonder whether the reason for his coming there has been on excursions to drink beer and hob-nob with women of easy virtues.

We owe it a duty to correct the abysmally wrong impression being created by Mr. Oke about Ogbomoso Recreation Club. For the records, ORC is in the class of foremost recreation clubs in Nigeria. It was envisioned by illustrious sons and daughters of Ogbomoso and draws its membership from across the country irrespective of race, sex, religious or political affiliations. The Soun of Ogbomoso is the Grand Patron while the Onpetu of Ijeru, the Alajaawa of Ajaawa, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon ,the Onikoyi of Ikoyi and the Aresa of Iresa ,all foremost traditional rulers in Oyo State from Ogbomoso Zone are patrons. Chief Sunday Adewusi, a former Inspector-General of Police is the Chairman, Board of Trustees while distinguished personalities like Gen. Oladapo Popoola, a former governor of Oyo and Ogun States; Chief L.A.Gbadamosi, a retired bank executive and industrialist; Prince Abidoye Ayoola (NEGRIS) and other prominent indigenes are members of the Board of Trustees. These are people who have given a good account of themselves in various fields of human endeavours and cannot be said to be associated with the Club on account of beer drinking and sharing the same stable with women of easy virtues.

Mr. Oke can play his politics of whatever description like any member. That is their inalienable right. However, we need to emphasise that the Club is not a platform for promoting any political interest and therefore we advise that the name of the prestigious ORC should be insulated from the mud splatters that had characterized the political landscape of Oyo State.

Meanwhile, Ogbomoso Recreation Club demands an unreserved apology from Mr Oke for his unguarded utterances against the Club and a firm promise by him that he will refrain from carrying on such anti-Club activity. He should expect an official communication from the Secretariat of the Club on this matter.

The affair was said to have taken a new dimension when the woman got pregnant and was asked by the Bank boss to terminate the baby with the excuse that his wife had threatened to kill him if he decides to take a second wife.
Kudirat Balogun was said to have been shocked and she refused to abort the pregnancy which later became an issue and led to constant beating and humiliation by her banker lover.
It was alleged that it got to a point that the banker would come to her house, tore her clothes, kicked her and say ‘i will get rid of you the way i’ve been getting rid of others’ and that was when she thought it was time to report him to the police.
Aside from the regular beating and threats Kudirat alleged that her lover made her collect a loan of 5million naira from his bank with a promise to pay back the money and any interest it attracts with the excuse that he couldn’t withdraw money from the account which his wife, a top banker with the first bank is also a signatory to, that he can only facilitate the funds if Kudirat applies for a loan.

Kudirat said she got scared and decided to involve the police when she travelled out to London and on her return she discovered that Stanley has packed all the things he bought her and also left her a message ‘it starts from here, you better be reasonable’.

Stanley, who is a top member of the Foursquare Church, Yaba, Lagos has taken Kudirat on different occasion to her church before he abruptly changed his mind and stated he no longer want the pregnancy.
When Stanley was contacted on his 08187787399 phone, he admitted knowing Kudirat and claimed he was always raped by the woman.
Stanley whose conversation with this reporter was recorded claimed ‘she always asked me to show my penis and would forcefully draw my trousers and rape me’.
Kudirat in her own defence queried ‘how would I rape a man who came all the way from his home in Ajah to my house in Lekki? Do i look like someone that has the strength to overpower and rape someone like Stanley?’.
The woman revealed to this reporter that she had lodged complain with the Public Defender and requested that what she wants from Stanley is an assurance of her safety and the welfare of her unborn child which the bank executive was unwilling to provide.
