CBN Gov. Emefiele Picks Up APC Presidential Form

There are indications that Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele on Friday morning purchased the 2023 Presidential nomination form of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), after paying the mandatory N100 million.

Sources at the APC Secretariat confirmed that Emefiele’s payment of N100 million for the nomination and expression of interest forms was confirmed by the Finance Department of the party after which the form was released to him this morning, Friday May 6, 2022

Emefiele’s decision to run for the office of the president in 2023 follows months of speculations regarding political aspirations of the Agbor, Delta State-born former Managing Director of Zenith Bank.

Emefiele had, in response to the move to vie for Nigeria’s number one office, asked speculators not to draw him in, as he would rather focus on fixing Nigeria’s monetary policies and aligning them with Federal Government’s fiscal policies.

Not minding his position on the matter, speculations have been rife that Nigeria’s number one banker is brought primed by some political interest to run for the office, an offer he has found difficult to resist.

South West on the verge: Dapo Lam-Adesina Urges Caution, Wants Yoruba Leaders To Wade In

Dissatisfied with the way supporters of the two leading presidential aspirants from the southwest— Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, are taking the campaigns, a former member of the house of representatives, Adedapo Lam-Adesina, has called for caution.

Lam-Adesina, who is a son of late former governor Lamidi Adesina, made this known in a statement issued in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Stalwart said that he was concerned with the ugly development not only because he is a member of the party but because he hails from the southwest and wants the best for the country in general and the south west in particular.

According to him, “We are setting a bad precedence. It is so unfortunate that this is happening and everybody is going on as if it is normal. If care is not taken, our party may be badly hit. Our region most importantly might be the worst hit.

"And this would mean we haven’t learned from the past and can be said to be “self inflicted”.

"If they don’t know, these two individuals aren’t enemies. They are just pursuing their ambitions. Let’s campaign based on deliverables and not name calling. It is enough". Ha said

Hon. Dapo Lam-Adeshina admonished the youths for allowing themselves to be used as tools for such division amongst some of the best personalities from the South west at this time.

He added that what he expect to do as youths, is to call on our leaders to close ranks and work together so that they can bring home the presidency instead of the Youths attacking one another on social media.

"We all have a constitutional right under the law to support whomever we want, but we should do that with all decorum and not expand the dichotomy that is already existing amongst our leaders". He added

He also made reference to the misunderstanding between Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and others- and said “Our traditional rulers, elders, irrespective of party and religious affiliation should please wade into the matter.

“We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be used against one another".

"If care is not taken, The Yorubas may lose out of this power play. This is another time when we have our people well-placed to take the mantle of leadership. It is a rare privilege for us,”

He advised members of the youth community never again to tag a Yorubaman/Woman the best president Nigeria never had.

Praying for  Nigeria to succeed as we enter into a other electioneering processes

United we stand, divided we fall-He said.
