OONI TO HOST DIGNITARIES FOR AFRICA FASHION WEEK NIGERIA

The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, is scheduled to host other top dignitaries at the closing ceremony of the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria on Friday, 9th September, 2022 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos State. 

According to a statement by the Ooni's Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, the event was founded as a sister event to Africa Fashion Week London, the biggest festival of African Fashion in the UK by Princess Ronke Ademiluyi who doubles as CEO of the Adire Oodua Textile Industry.

The Arole Oduduwa will alongside the First Lady of Kwara State, Amb. (Mrs.) Abdulrazaq host other dignitaries to a warm closing session of the event where over 60 designers will be showcasing their works. 

Otunba Olafare explained that, "Africa fashion Week Nigeria now in its 8th year  continues  promoting African fashion  culture globally, with the sole aim of showcasing African creatives and indigenous textiles such as Adire  on the global stage.

"Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2021 was held in the ancient city of ile ife at the Ojaja Arena, while the forthcoming 022 will be held at the Eko Hotel in Lagos.

"This will dovetail into the 12th Edition of Africa Fashion week london taking place in the 7th and 8th of October in celebration of Black history month and the theme is experiencing the Adire Culture

"An Adire Pavillion sponsored by Eco Bank will be declared open by HIM the custodian of cultures and traditions

"In partnership with Nigeria's fashion powerhouse Lagos Fashion Fare headed by Mr Ayo Olugbade, AFWN 2022   promises the  delivering a never before seen African fashion event  right here in Lagos. Featuring renowned designers from Nigeria, the likes of Kunle Afolanyan's Ire Clothing,  AdirestylesNG, HardleySeen, Fashion by Ashani, KaffyKreates and KolaKudus. 

"Also the President of Fadan will be leading a collective of Fadan Designers and mix of designer brands from other African countries such as Nivaldo Thierry from Mozambique, YawsCreations from The Gambia."

OONI TO UNVEIL NGO FOR CIVIC ORIENTATION, INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE

Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has concluded plans to unveil a nongovernmental organization with the name; Ooni Ojaja Development Initiative.

According to a release signed by Director of Media and Public Affairs to the palace, Otunba Moses Olafare reads that the Ooni Ojaja Development Initiative is a project of the Ooni structured to address the gap between government and the governed, enhance more youth and women's participation in processes leading to governance and make the government more acceptable to the masses among others.

Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, the non governmental organization is committed to enhancing local communities and life of Nigerians across Nigeria through Safe and Inclusive civic participation, advocacy campaigns, evidence based research, capacity building and stakeholder engagements.

The organization is prepared to achieve the duties stated above by enhancing Nigerians access to information, providing enabling structures and implementing sustainable initiatives.

Ooni however has appointed Dr. Olushola Aluko Okpodu as the Director General to head the NGO – a Veteran Newscaster and ex staff of AIT Network Service. Renowned Media & Development Communication Expert with 25 years experience. She had a stint as Head of Programmes and Presentation with RayPower FM, before she delved into the International development sector as a Senior National / Regional Consultant with Oxford Policy Management United Kingdom, on Oil Sector Transparency and Reforms, the United Nations, Government parastatals and Foreign Media
