NTDC Workers Stage Protest, Wants Folly Coker Fired

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, workers of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) shut down the Abuja headquarters of the tourism agency to demand the sack of its Director-General, Mr Foluronsho Folarin Coker, fondly called Folly Coker.
The aggrieved employees of the NTDC accused the DG of high-handedness and poor welfare of workers.
They claimed he was not competent to occupy the position, calling on the Federal Government to remove him immediately.
The demonstrators carried placards conveying different messages including ‘NTDC staff not animals,’ and ‘MTDC staff says no to oppressor.’
Others are ‘DG Mr Folunrusho Coker, we are tired of your insults, we are not your slaves,’ ‘Coker, give us our job, we want to work,’ ‘Coker needs management training,’ ‘Coker, stop all impunity and financial recklessness in NTDC,’ ‘NTDC staff are not animals, treat us like human beings,’ ‘Special assistant is not a full time employment,’ ‘Let the staff work, what kind of a leader is Coker,’ ‘Seven months after assumption of duty, no meeting with staff,’ ‘Coker said Buhari has not been able to achieve anything in two years and so NTDC staff should not expect him to do magic,’ ‘Folunrunsho Coker lacks human relations, he is a bully,’ ‘PMB, as a matter of urgency, should sack Foluronsho Coker,’ ‘Only Coker attends foreign exhibition,’ among others.
They noted that Mr Coker set up a project unit which is not part of the NTDC nomenclature, but a conduit pipe to syphon money out of the NTDC.
The workers lamented that the DG has not been able to achieve anything since taking over NTDC barely eight months ago.
They expressed disappointment over what they called his poor leadership style and lack of respect for the workers.
Meanwhile, the management of NTDC has promised to respond appropriately to all the issues raised by the workers.
In recent years, NTDC has been dogged by controversies, staff protests and low workers’ morale, occasioned by poor leadership style, which started with Sally Mbanefo, the immediate past DG.
Stakeholders in the industry had a high expectation that Mr Coker will re-position NTDC by taking the corporation to a higher height, but with the recent protest by the workers, all that may now seem to be a mirage.
Mr Coker was appointed about seven months ago to help revive the dwindling fortunes of the Nigerian tourism industry, having served briefly in the same capacity as a Commissioner for Tourism and culture in Lagos state, where he was removed unceremoniously.

Boundary Dispute: Oyo, Ogun Govts Call For Peace

The governments of Oyo and Ogun States have appealed to the affected local government councils and respective traditional institutions of border communities to continue to ensure peaceful co-existence amongst themselves pending the conclusion of actions on the interstate boundary.
The two governments made the appeal in a communiqué issued at the end of a joint meeting of officials of Oyo/Ogun Interstate boundary held in Ibadan last week.
The communiqué signed by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State who was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, DR. Olumide Ayeni and the Director, Internal Boundaries, Surv. Adamu A. Adaji assured that the two state governments will investigate the reported incidences of vandalization of the boundary pillars at the Bakatari and Eruwa sectors and take appropriate action to ensure continued peace.
The communiqué noted that the National Boundary Commission and the Office of the Surveyor-General of the federation together with the Surveyors-General and Attorneys-General of the two states to examine amongst others the discrepancies not later than the first quarter of 2018.
It stated that the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation shall ascertain the work done so far on the boundary and the required pillars of the remaining sector for possible award of contract by the Federal Government.
The communiqué also stressed that the Joint Technical Committee would be encouraged to have regular bilateral meetings to discuss issues relating to the boundary and douse tension to ensure continued peace amongst the border communities and report their findings submitted to National Boundary Commission.

Who Will Save Folly Coker From Gov Ambode? (unveiling the many wars between Tinubu’s godsons

There is no love lost between the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode and the frontman of NTDC, Mr Folly Coker.
As much as the duo who had loved to conceal the hatred for each other, their difference has deepened to the point that the politicians are tearing at each other at any given opportunity.
Those in the know claimed the two Lagos politicians who ere both proteges of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu have had been at each other’s throat for a long time.
Sources revealed that Governor Ambode had long had the opinion that Folly Coker had been using his closeness to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to secure appointments.
He was said to have officially lamented to confidant how Folly was imposed on him and he had to show evidence of his recklessness to Tinubu before he got the approval to sack him from his cabinet.
Folly was said to have taken the sack personal and had since been a critic of all the policies of the Lagos State government before he was later appointed the boss of the NTDC.
The feud deepened when Lagos State published an advertorial in the papers with claims that the government had succeeded in flushing out all the bad eggs in Ambode’s government.
The Lagos State government was also alleged to have sponsored the recent protest by some NTDC staffers who demonstrated and asked for the sack of Folly Coker as their Director General.
Folly was said to have reported to Tinubu, but he met a brickwall as the top politician told him his issue with Governor Ambode was a personal one he should be able to handle.
Folly was said to have fought back and he was alleged to be the sponsor of an incident where a lady claimed she was raped at the Lagos carnival by officials of the event.
Folly claimed the One Lagos project was his initiative and he wasn’t happy the State continues the project after his sack.
Sources revealed that the owner of the Browns cafe is about launching a counter project named ‘ONE NIGERIA’ to counter the Lagos State project.
It was also said that the war had spread amongst the aides of the two gladiators.
An encounter played out at this year’s Nottinghill Carnival in London where he Lagos State’s Commissioner of Information, Steve Ayorinde prevented the recognition of the NTDC boss, Folly Coker at the event.

Paris Club Refund: Court Orders Akwa Ibom Govt to Deposit N20bn in Bank Over Failure to Pay Mauritz Walton Consultancy Fee

A Federal High Court on Friday ordered Akwa Ibom State government to deposit the sum of N20bn in any of the three banks, namely First Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank and Zenith Bank, respectively, in respect of a suit filed by Mauritz Walton Nig. Ltd against the government.
Mauritz had sued the Minister of Finance, Accountant General of the Federation, Central Bank of Nigeria, and Akwa State government, as the 1, 2, 3, and 4 defendants over the refusal of the government of Akwa Ibom to pay it consultancy fee over the Paris Club Refund.
Mauritz challenged the defendants on ground of their refusal to abide by the Court’s interlocutory order freezing Akwa Ibom State Paris Club Refund Account, pending the determination of suit filed against the state over refusal to pay it consultancy fee on the Paris Club Refund.
Mauritz dragged the state before the court seeking the attachment of the said amount as a result of the failure of the state government to pay the applicant 30 per cent of the state’s Paris Club refund by the Federal Government being consultancy charge for the services it rendered to the state government in pursuing the refund on behalf of the government.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole gave the order Friday in the suit marked: NO FHC/ABJ/CS/1154/2017.
In a ruling, Justice Kolawole held: “Upon the application of the plaintiff’s counsel, Ahmed Rsji, SAN, informing the court of the irregularities on the Defendants Affidavit to show cause as ordered by the court of 30/11/2017; it is hereby ordered as follows:
“That in the absence of any affidavit to show cause, and the one filed by the first defendant having been held to be irregular field, it is the interest of justice that prayer in the plaintiff motion ex parte dated 31/11/17 be granted as prayed to abide the hearing and determination of the plaintiff motion and notice interlocutory injunction which may be held at future date with fourth defendant notice of preliminary objection dated 12/12/17.
“That the said prayer granted shall enable the first, second and third defendants to pay the said sum in prayer five into an interest yielding account with any of these banks: Zenith Bank, GTB PLC, and or First Bank PLC
“That this should be ruling of this court based on the agenda which I have set for today’s proceeding on 30/11/17 when the plaintiff ex parte motion was held.”
The matter was adjourned till January 30, 2018.
Justice Kolawole had frozen seven accounts linked to Governors’ Forum, which, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, were used by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to launder the sum of N10bn said to be derived from the proceeds of the Paris Club refund.
Justice Kolawole directed that the freezing order would last for 45 days within which the EFCC must either institute charges in respect of the transactions against the relevant suspects or apply to the court for an extension of the order.
The judge also gave seven days to the account owners, if interested in seeking the setting aside of the freezing order, to file an application which must be served on the EFCC.

Wale Ojo-Lanre Calls For Journalists Enlistment On NTDC Board

ASSOCIATE Editor (Tourism) of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, Comrade Wale Ojo-Lanre, has enjoined the Senate to include in the new Bill for the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), the enlistment of journalists on the Board Members of the Corporation.

Ojo-Lanre, who made the submission during the Public Hearing on a Bill for an Act on the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), described the exclusion of journalists and the media in the decision making and implementation as one of the missing factors in the country.

He explained that journalists and the media are very important in policy making and implementation, posing that, “who will explain policies to the people if the journalists are excluded in the making of the policies?”

The former Chairman, Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Chief Press Secretary to a former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni, added that “for journalists to be more developmental in their reportage of tourism and other national events, they must be part of decision making and implementation.”

He explained that “a developmental journalist takes into consideration, the interest of the nation, the interest of the people and the welfare of the common man.”

Ojo-Lanre emphasised the need to sequester the Tourism Ministry and locate it under the Presidency, saying “for all we are doing here not to be in vain, there must be a separate Ministry for Tourism. That is the practice, globally. I made the plea the last time I was here. I am begging again. Please sir, Senate, let us have a separate Tourism Ministry.”

In his reaction, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, commended the keen passion and huge contribution of Ojo-Lanre to the promotion of the Nigerian Tourism industry.

“Your well articulated submission and contributions to the advancement of the Nigerian Tourism industry, and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) is well noted. Your passionate interest in the industry is highly commendable,” Senator Urhoghide remarked.

WHY I WANT TO RULE EKITI STATE-Muyiwa Coker

MUYIWA Coker is an Accountant, politician and one of the All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirants for the 2018 Ekiti governorship election. In this interview with cityinfo190, the financial expert explains how he intends to transform the state by repositioning it to attract investors. Excerpts:

Sir, you are aspiring to be governor of Ekiti in 2018.
By the grace of God.

May we know why you are in the race?
I think Ekiti needed a change: we need to transform the state from a cost centre to investment centre so that our people can enjoy, live and run businesses in a decent and conducive environment.

But do you think APC can match Fayose in 2018?
Why not and if not. Definitely, yes.

What gave you the assurance?
Is the government of the day performing now? What is the standard of living in Ekiti now? So APC is very very firmly on ground to take over government from PDP.

What do you want to do differently from what is on ground now in the state?
Well, you see people talk about restructuring, all aspirants talk about it; but mine is with a difference. Restructuring has different parts: portfolios, organisation and financial restructuring, respectively. No investor will come to Ekiti the way it is now. We need to restructure our finances and that is the beginning of my own project. Look at the financial state of affairs now, for instance, if you go to a bank to solicit for a loan they can’t just give you money without asking you collateral and other things that will convince them you deserve the loan. But for a state, you must have a strong financial base. No investors will want to come and invest. Any investors that is coming in is expecting to get returns. So my first assignment is to sweep the balance sheet look at how we position our finances such that it will attract local and foreign investors. Then having said that we are going to go into massive agriculture; not elephant projects. We are going to do cottage agriculture, whereby for example, rice production is the core competence of in Ido Osi local government, we will invest in that in the area, so also we will do for the people of Ikogosi: empowering them in line with their specialities. With this, the people will be interested in the course because that is what they know how to do best. Before you know what is happening, Ekiti State would have become the food basket of the nation.

You mention portfolio restructuring can you just expantiate that, sir?
Portfolio restructuring is a kind of business mix, the kind of product you want to introduce in Ekiti, that is the meaning.

What is your definiton of rerestructuring?
Restructuring is to reposition, thereby making sure that what is not right now is put right and you need to put your strategies in place because when you don’t have a good strategy to get things done, you can’t achieve anything.

What is your take on stomach infrastructure introduced by Governor Ayo Fayose?
Well, that is not my own idea of empowering people and giving them money or food, instead of stomach infrastructure, you know I said initially that we will introduce cottage agricultural system that willl be the foundation of feeding our people not given people rice, chicken and garri

And you think that will replace stomach infrastructure?
Definitely yes, and it will be sustained.

Fayose: Attacks on "Resume or Resign" protesters, height of dictatorship, Says; Buhari must “resume or resign”

Image result for ayo fayoseEkiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has condemned the attacks on the 'Resume or Resign', protesters, describing it as the height of dictatorship and demonstration of intolerance to opposing views by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. The governor, who declared support for the call for President Muhammadu Buhari to either “resume or resign” said; “Nigeria can no longer afford a diaspora president or a president that is seen once in 100 days. If they say the President is now well, he should return to Nigeria or is Nigeria now in the hands of the President’s doctors?”
Governor Fayose said that he was particularly miffed by what he called orchestrated attack on the protesters at Wuse market, Abuja yesterday, adding that; "By arranging hoodlums to attack Nigerians who were exercising their fundamental rights to protest against the government, the APC government has shown that it has lost support and trust of Nigerians.”
Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that Governor Fayose told journalists that any attempt to silence Nigerians, especially those opposed to the APC government will fail, saying; “This country belongs to all of us, it is not the property of a few or a cabal who believes they can cow and subdue Nigerians, we will continue to talk. The president must either resume or resign; this is a clear statement. Who is afraid of the truth? Who is running away from realities?”
He said it was now more obvious that the APC federal government do not have anything in stock other than destruction of the country.
The governor, who maintained that demanding for the health status of the President was the right of Nigerians, said it was funny that armed policemen were available to protect those who protested in support of the APC government, but the same police attacked the "Return or Resign"
protesters.
He said; “Nigerians will recall that during the BBOG protest in the Jonathan administration, protesters sat on the road for days, nobody molested them. During the January 2012 fuel hike protest (aka #OccupyLagos, #OccupyNigeria), people freely expressed themselves and those in government today participated actively in the protests, they funded these protests.
"Even President Muhammadu Buhari led protests in Abuja against PDP government. The President led protesters to the National Assembly to protest against the continued absence of the late President Umaru Yar'Adua from the country and went ahead to call for Yar'Adua's impeachment. Then, no one was attacked by security men and hoodlums were not set after the protesters as was done in Abuja yesterday.
"It is therefore shameful that the same people who rode on the back of democratic principles to power are now standing against the rights of Nigerians to complain and the international community should pay special attention to the rule of brute force going on in the country.
“I salute the courage of this young people who have continued to say the truth that the president must resume or resign. If they are telling us the president is okay and fine, let him come home, let the doctors follow him here, we don't want a president who is being introduced once in 100 days, the president we voted for must be accountable to us.
“Nigerians should vote against APC, never again should these people who I describe as power miss road control us again, thank you very much."

Cristiano Ronaldo's ban should not concern Real Madrid in Super Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo's absence should present no problem for Real Madrid in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona on Wednesday.
Ronaldo had his five-game ban, resulting from his actions in the first leg, upheld by an appeals committee earlier in the day.
He received a one-game ban when he was booked for removing his shirt while celebrating a goal and then shown a second yellow minutes later for diving.
His response to the second booking -- pushing referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea from behind -- meant that Ronaldo will be banned four additional games.
Madrid, who carry a 3-1 lead into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, have a 90 percent chance of winning the Super Cup for the 10th time, according to FiveThirtyEight's Soccer Power Index.
They went unbeaten over 14 games without Ronaldo last season, when they won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, and likewise have not lost during the 10 games Ronaldo has missed through suspension during his time with Madrid.
This is the seventh Clasico in the Super Cup, with Real winning the last in 2012. Barcelona have won the Super Cup on 12 occasions, including last year, but won it against Real Madrid only in 2011.
Lionel Messi, who scored Barcelona's only goal in the first leg from the penalty spot, enters Wednesday with 13 goals in the Super Cup -- the most of any player in the history of the competition.
He has scored 24 goals in El Clasico, also the most of all time.

Oyo LGs workers, pensioners Gets N13b for prompt payment of Arrears

THE Oyo State Government on Wednesday said that it has disbursed over N13bn to settle the average of about 5months salaries owed local government workers and primary school teachers as well as their pensioners in the state.
Mr. Bimbo Kolade, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftain Matters, who disclosed this in Ibadan, stated that the N13,739,592,266.24 released to the Ministry from the office of the State’s Accountant General comprised of the April, May and June allocations for Local Governments in the state and a share from Paris Club Re-fund.
Kolade said that N13,739,592,266.24bn was inclusive of SUBEB funds, explaining that N3,088,014,271.45bn was released for April, N3,396,208,585.99 for May and N5,255,369,408.80bn for June while N2bn was released for Local government workers and pensioners’ welfare by Governor Abiola Ajimobi from the refunded second tranche N7.9 Paris Club fund.
The Commissioner charged all Caretaker Chairmen to be prudent with the fund, expressing optimism that outstanding salaries of some 15 Council areas put at an average of 2months will be offset.
He cautioned the Caretaker Chairmen against over bloated staff strength which he said always make it difficult for them to offset their wage bills promptly, urging that they should limit their ad-hoc staff to only those they can afford to pay their bills as at when due.

5 Major Reasons Why Nigerian Ladies Do Not Wear Panties

1. Fresh air
It sounds like a an absurd reason but Ugandan girls don’t wear any panties so that fresh can circulate in the groin region.

With panties, there is a lot of sweating especially with the impossible Kampala weather. Girls who wear dresses are ones who give out this reason and it is not easy to see why.

2. The Have a few pairs
One can argue that this could be the main reason why Ugandan girls don’t wear panties The average Ugandan chick has 6 pairs of panties at most. If they keep changing daily and putting wear and tear into consideration, many opt to go without panties. These are the same ladies who boldly clam they want a guy who drives a Lamborghini yet they own only three pairs of bra.Ugandans are always the first ones to pick on international trend. We are still colonized by the west 3 decades after Independence. When America coughs, Uganda is the first to catch the flu. So when America decides they don’t need panties anymore, Ugandan women follow without questioning.

Everything is Western if you come to think of it,

 4. Easy Access When Bonking
There are those women who are always anticipating. They go to clubs for the sole reason of getting a man to satisfy their sexu@l needs. A quickie is made easy if the lass is wearing a short dress with nothing inside. Such ladies would have probably gone more than three rounds before they reach home.
