Ooni Appoints Former Ecobank MD, CEO Akinwuntan, Omisore, Odeyemi Others on the Board of Ife Steering Committees.


Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula Ooni Babatunde Akande Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ojaja I I, CFR has announced realignment and reconstitution of three key institutions saddled with the responsibility of repositioning of the ancient city for the desirable advancement with well qualified illustrious sons and daughters personality, captains of industries who are Ife sons and daughters to constitute   Ife development board (IDB), Ife Board of trustees (IBoT)and Ife Trust Fund (ITF).

The nomination came up after  extensive consultations and robust deliberations between the palace and relevant stakeholders ensuring a balanced blend of the wisdom of the elders with the fresh perspectives of the younger generation needed for a more advanced and well-rounded community, embracing the knowledge and experiences of different age groups capable of paving the way for progress and innovation by Ooni.

Among the worthy ambassadors saddled with the huge responsibility on the board of Ife Trust Fund is the former MD/CEO Ecobank, Nigeria Patrick Akin Akinwuntan from Orunto Obalufe compound and many other captains of industry.

Patrick Akinwuntan is a foremost financial and a Chartered Accountant expert,  Pan African Banker and Fintech expert. He holds an MBA, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Senior Executive program. He is also an honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Patrick commenced his professional career at EY International and practiced investment banking at Manufacturer’s Merchant Bank (now Fidelity Bank) before a 26-year pan-African banking career at Ecobank where he held various executive positions across Africa. He retired in 2022 as the Managing Director & Regional Executive of Ecobank Nigeria.

Akinwuntan has an extraordinary passion for innovation, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and innovation in financial services. He led the launch of the first international credit-card in West frica, a unified pan-African banking App, various consumer banking products and instant fund transfers across 33 African countries in 18 currencies.

He is currently involved as DBA student at Cranfield School of Management - 2023-2027, Adjunct Faculty at the Lagos Business School, Independent non-executive director on the board of Airtel Nigeria, MudoZangl Nigeria Limited and Opolo Global Innovation Limited.

Also is a member of the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Co-Chair of the Advisory board of Retail banking Councils for Africa, member of the Board of Trustees of the Fintech Association of Nigeria, EY Alumni Nigeria, KSM Charity Foundation among others.

Other eminent personalities on the boards include Chief Agboola Odeyemi,  Senator Iyiola Omisore  former Local government boss and Commissioner in Lagos State ,Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan among others.
