Heads of Tertiary Institutions in Oyo State have been charged to
promote quality assurance policies and ethics in their institutions
which are the key thrusts of the teaching profession so as to create a
conducive teaching and learning environment. The Commissioner for
Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela gave the
charge on Tuesday at the familiarization Meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions.
"Graduate from our institutions must be agents of positive change in
the society and this can only be achieved if they are empowered by
employable skills which can be used in solving societal problems and
uplifting human conditions", he reiterated.
The former Council Chief further tasked the dons to promote industrial peace and harmony amongst its academic, non-academic and student bodies in their respective institutions, while admonishing them on positive impact in the delivery of quality education to the citizens of Oyo State in particular and the neighbouring schools in their domains. He also promised to revitalize ICT.
The Commissioner, however urged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to call off the ongoing strike to avert sabotaging the education of the students. The meeting which was held at the Conference room of the Ministry had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Aderonke Makanjuola, the Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH), who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Timothy Adebayo, Rectors and Provosts of tertiary institutions and the Directors of the Ministry.
