‎EKITI MONARCH CONDEMN ALAAFIN STATEMENT SAYS LEADERSHIP IS NOT BY FORCEFUL ENTHRONEMENT

*OONI'S ROYAL TERRITORIES STEM BEYOND YORUBALAND

The attention of the Adimula Oloore Oodua, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, the Oore of Otun-Ekiti and paramount ruler of Mobaland House of on the media attack by the Alaafin's palace on the House of Odùduwà, which transcends beyond the shores of Yorubaland into the wider African space, cutting across the Itsekiri in Delta State, Benin Kingdom, Ga tribe in Accra Ghana, Ashante Kingdom of Kumasi, Ghana as well as the LUO tribe in Uganda, Ga-Adangbe tribe in Ghana, and many more, in which the Arole Odùduwà Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, D.Litt, CFR, Ojaja II, that Ooni does not have the power to confer the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

Akogun Banjo Ayinde, Chief Press Secretary to Oore & paramount of Mobaland says for the avoidance of doubt, Ooni has never conceived it, talk less of installing anybody as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland. "We therefore challenge anyone with verifiable evidence that Ooni has traditionally or culturally installed such a title on anyone to present it to the public".

"It is important to note that as the Natural Father of the Yoruba race and spiritual head of Odùduwà race worldwide, the Ooni wields unequivocal authority to bestow titles of territorial relevance if and when necessary. However, His Majesty’s vision and preoccupation are far greater than minor chieftaincy titles. His focus rests on the larger task of unifying our people across Nigeria and Africa who trace their origin to Ilé-Ifẹ̀ for peace, progress, and development that far transcend such narrow contestations".

He says, since ascending the throne of Odùduwà, Ooni has carried out only three official territorial chieftaincy installations namely; The Odole Oodua, Iyalaje OODUA and Yeye Oodua all deeply rooted in spiritual and ancestral imperatives, which Baba Ooni had bestowed on Sir Dr Adebutu Kensington, Princess Dr Toyin KOLADE and Erelu Abiola Dosumu respectively.

"Our father Ooni, revered not merely as a king but as a deity across the Oduduwa race of which Yoruba is a notable section, does not distribute titles frivolously.Apart from the proposed Ojaja Smart City, Ibadan, the biggest  in Africa which will provide not less than 20000 jobs, Ooni has already established Inagbe Grand Resort in Lagos, Ife Grand Resort and Industrial Hub in Ile-Ife, Ojaja University in Ilorin, Kwara state, Ojajamoore and Ojaja Park and Hotels in Akure, OjajaMoore in Ede, Ile-Ife and Osogbo in Osun creating over 5000 direct jobs for Yoruba youths. He is also constructing a massive Ojaja Park in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state. That is leadership". The statement reads.

"We must put a clear end to the fruitless struggle for emperorship ; an idea long eroded by constitutional democracy. Where are the great empires of Shongai, Mali of Mansa Musa, Roman empires, Othman empires and others today? Those eras of conquering territories through invasion by gorrilarism are gone. If anyone must wage war over territorial rights, let it be with colonialists who had taken the absolute powers of monarchies and emperors and replaced it with what they called constitutional governments not only in Nigeria but globally and not with Oonirìnsà, who has always stood for unity and progress.

The descendants of Oduduwa home and in diaspora know their natural father and they know where they all migrated from; hence, there is no contestation over Ooni’s place as the Arole Odùduwà. Leadership is never by forceful enthronement nor by empty threats, but by service, wisdom, and natural acceptability. Look at the way Ooni travels around the showcasing the Africanist substance, she how he creates businesses scattered across Yorubaland providing jobs for our youths. That is leadership!

We advise the public and right thinking members of society to demand clarity on the referenced Supreme Court judgment being mischievously cited, to know exactly who and what it referred to, so as not to rope Ooni into matters that have no bearing on his sacred stool. Or doesn't he have the right to appoint Dotun Sanusi as Okanlomo Oodua?

In this 21st century where royal fathers across the world are strategizing on how to attract investments, foster unity, and build sustainable development in their domains, reducing the sacred institution of kingship to petty quarrels over minor titles is not and will never be on Ooni’s table. He is well above that.

The House of Odùduwà remains committed to peace, unity, and prosperity across Yorubaland and beyond.

Lagos Housing Commissioner Backs Proposed Tenancy Regulation Bill, Calls It “Fundamental” for Landlord-Tenant Relations

Lagos, Nigeria – August 18, 2025 — The Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, has thrown his weight behind a proposed tenancy regulation bill currently before the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing it as a “fundamental” piece of legislation poised to protect both landlords and tenants while promoting greater transparency in the state’s real estate sector.

Speaking on the bill titled “A Bill for a Law to Regulate the Relationship Between Landlords and Tenants, Including the Procedure for the Recovery of Premises in Lagos State, and for Other Connected Matters,” the Commissioner said the legislation addresses key challenges in the state’s housing market — including rising rent burdens and frequent landlord-tenant disputes.

“This is a fundamental bill,” Hon. Moruf said. “You can see that many Lagosians took part in the process because they are directly affected. It’s a fact that people are spending as much as 33% of their income on rent. That’s a serious burden.”

He emphasized that the bill strikes a balance by clearly defining the rights and responsibilities of both landlords and tenants. “There have been so many conflicts between landlords and tenants, and this bill will ensure that everyone knows their rights,” he said. “It protects both the tenant and the landlord.”

The Commissioner also highlighted a growing reluctance among property developers to engage in rental agreements due to the legal and practical complexities of managing tenants. “People are shying away from renting. Once they build, they just want to sell. This bill will encourage more people to return to renting by providing legal backing and reducing the fear of conflict or loss,” he explained.

Key provisions of the proposed legislation include:

Capping agency commissions at 5% of one year’s rent

Mandating agents to remit collected rent within seven working days

Prohibiting double collection of rent for the same property

Restricting rent advances to no more than three months for monthly tenants and one year for annual tenants

Imposing penalties of up to ₦1 million or two years imprisonment for unregistered or erring property agents

The bill also introduces strict regulatory frameworks aimed at curbing exploitative practices and ensuring timely access to justice in tenancy-related matters.

Once passed, the legislation is expected to bring greater order, accountability, and fairness to Lagos State’s dynamic but often disorganized rental market, offering much-needed relief to residents while restoring confidence among landlords and real estate investors.

“This is our administration,” she said. “It is listening, responsive, and relentlessly focused on lifting households. The reforms may be tough, but they are purposeful, and they are already aligning resources to where people live and work.”

Community leaders commended Ogbara’s unwavering advocacy for women, youth, and vulnerable families, describing her outreach as “governance you can feel.” Market women thanked her for cushioning rising costs with tangible relief, while young artisans praised the continuity of her programs rather than one-off gestures.

“MHR Ogbara keeps showing up,” a beneficiary remarked. “From Agboyi-Ketu to Ikosi, Ojota, and Oworo, she brings relief and respect. That’s why our prayers follow her.”

Her message to residents was clear: stay engaged, stay hopeful, and hold leaders accountable, because responsive governance thrives on a strong feedback loop with citizens.

The day’s exercise closed with orderly distributions and safety checks at refill points, underscoring the initiative’s blend of compassion and professionalism. In Agboyi-Ketu, hearts were lifted and hearths refueled—an elegant portrait of representative democracy at work, and a firm vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s people-first course.

Widescope Group CEO Commends FG’s 10-Year Transport Policy, Advocates for Integrated, Safe Infrastructure

The Chief Executive Officer of Widescope Group, Dr. Segun Musa, has lauded the Federal Government’s newly introduced 10-year transport policy, describing it as a vital step toward revitalizing Nigeria’s economy through improved infrastructure and connectivity.

During a recent media briefing, Dr. Musa emphasized the critical role of transportation in national development, stating that the success of any economy hinges on an efficient and well-coordinated transport system.

“Transportation is the motive force behind the economy of any country. If you get the transport system right, the economy will follow. It is the starting point for meaningful development,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of developing and integrating all modes of transport — including road, rail, pipeline, and waterways — to ensure they function in synergy. According to him, lack of coordination among these modes creates inefficiencies and hinders national progress.

Dr. Musa urged the government to give equal priority to all transport corridors, including land roads and inland waterways, which he described as crucial yet often neglected.

“When we talk about roads, we must think beyond highways. Waterways, pipeline routes, and other transport infrastructure must be developed alongside. They must complement each other to boost efficiency and economic activity,” he noted. “There must be a focus on both infrastructure development and consistent maintenance.”

Particularly concerned about the state of Nigeria’s waterways, Musa called for better safety measures, regular maintenance, and the presence of rescue and security teams to ensure public confidence in water transport.

“Without proper maintenance, accidents will persist on our waterways. The government must ensure safety protocols are in place, rescue teams are available, and security is guaranteed. These are the things that give citizens the confidence to use the waterways,” he warned.

He further advised that all three tiers of government — federal, state, and local — collaborate effectively to implement the transport policy, adding that no single arm of government can achieve the desired results alone.

“A well-coordinated transport network is essential for trade, mobility, and regional integration. With the right policies and partnerships in place, transportation can truly become the engine that drives Nigeria’s economic transformation,” he said.
