Buhari: Ibadan agog as Group celebrates President’s ‘tremendous recovery’

It was jubilation galore in Ibadan on Monday as members of a political group, Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO), drawn from the entire States in the South West, organised a special event in celebration of what they tagged the ‘tremendous recovery’ of President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently recuperating in London where he has been undergoing medical treatment.
While using the event specifically to offer special prayers for the President, the political group also re-assured Nigerians that all is set for President Buhari ‘s subsequent return to Nigeria having gained good health from his sickness.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, the National Coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Danladi Pasali commended the organizers of the Special Prayer Summit for their good intention which he said was “coming up at a time that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari is strong and healthy.”
He declared:  “The tremendous recovery of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari and his subsequent coming back soon must be celebrated by giving glory to God.   Your commitment to the course of good governance by the present administration is a clear indication that no region in the country is as close to your spiritual and physical contributions.  Let me once again congratulate you all for making everything here possible, and urge the zonal Coordinators of the five other geo-political zones to emulate your laudable examples.”
Dignitaries at the prayer session included the BCO Chairman, Board of Trustees, Alhaji Kabiru Nakaura; the founder of BCO, Alhaji Hassan Ishaku Sarki Kudun Yamma; Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Dr. Bawa Abdullahi Wase; the South West Coordinator of BCO, Mr. Adetunji Adeniji; the zonal Patron,Chief Amidu Ajibade; Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Adebayo Gbolahan; as well as an Ekiti State gubernatorial aspirant under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Olumuyiwa Coker, among others.
Highlight of the event was the formal inauguration of the South West Zonal office and State Coordinators of the Buhari Campaign Organisation.

Oyo First Lady: Why We’re Establishing Vocational Centre For Girls



Wife of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi has revealed her intention to establish a vocational training centre for girls who drop out of school.
She made this known at her office‎ during a courtesy call by a two-man team from the British High Commission.
This is just as she‎ pledged support towards improving the wellbeing of female gender in the state.
Reflecting on some of her activities since Governor Ajimobi’s administration came on board, the First lady recalled the drafting of a bill on prohibition of violence against women which was forwarded to
the State House of Assembly and eventually passed 5 years after initiation.
She also listed the initiation of women empowerment programmes to guard against abuse of woman due to poverty or want as part of her contributions to female gender in Oyo state.
Responding, the British Deputy High Commissioner Laura Beaufils, enjoined the general public to not only educate their daughters on how to avoid getting abused but also educate the boys on how to respect and protect the women and girls in the society, adding that it is important for both women and men to work together for women rights.
She however expressed her readiness to collaborate with Oyo State government especially the office of the wife of the governor to impact positively the lives of female gender in the state.

YORUBA UNITY FORUM TO HONOUR OONI, ALAAFIN, GANI ADAMS OTHERS TOMORROW



Eminent personalities including governors, traditional rulers and captains of industry will on Saturday be honored by Yoruba Unity Foundation in Ibadan
The inauguration and award program  which will hold tomorrow Saturday August 12 at the House of Chief Secretariat Ibadan will also feature a lecture entitled achieving a strong Yoruba Nation, the issue at
states and the way forward to be delivered by  Professor Duro Adegboye chairman Gospelcon, Offa Kwara state.

Some of the awardees include, The Ooni of Ife,  Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, Governor Ayodele Fayose, of Ekiti state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of the state of Osun and Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos state.

Others include,Otunba Gani Adams  Oba Otudeko, Otunba Mike Adenuga, Otunba Deji Osibogun, Akogun Bamji Ojo , chief Wole Olanipekun, Iyalode Alaba Lawson among others.

The event will also featured the investiture of  Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye EniitanOgunwusi, Ojaja 11, Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba  Obateru Akinrutan, Olofa
of Ofa, Oba Mufutau Oloyede, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Ologotun of ogotun Oba Oyebade Oladapo,  Fredrick Faseun and Chief Kola Daisi as the patron of the group.

The grand finale of the annual Osun Osogbo festival is schedule to hold on  Friday 18th August 2017.

The Ataoja of Osogbo Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, Larooye 11 who disclosed this  at the stakeholder’s forum for the festival held at the palace on Thursday said Oroki festival will hold on Saturday 19th  August .

The monarch who assures adequate security and safety of peoples and their valuables also advocates for an integrated festival calendar in Osun state so as to boost economy of the state through tourism and festival events

“ When we have many event holding at different communities at periodic interval, both local and tourists will stay longer and spend more that they will do when they attend just one festival, For instance, After Osogbo, let assume there is another event of substance  in Iragbiji, Ede, Ikirun and others  that is not far from Osun Osogbo event, visitors will wait and participate

Using Saudi Arabia as an example, Oba Oyetunji anybody going to Hajj will spend nothing less than a month in Hajj and during that period he or she will be spending money, the same way we should attract people from foreign land to come and see what we have and stay longer’

The monarch however other traditional rulers and custodians of culture and tradition to revive and repackage their cultural heritage for economic development and progress of their town

Osun Osogbo festival is our thanksgiving  festival , we use it to acknowledge and appreciate the river goddess for her benevolent gesture to our people and we also pray for more, since we have been celebrating Osun Osogbo, things have not been the same ‘ he said

Apart from the development, the number of visitors increases on annual basis and by implication everybody including petty traders do enjoy the benefits of the annual event

In his welcome address, the event consultant, Ayo Olumoko, executive director INFOGEM business communication said the Minister of information, culture and tourism will be appreciated for his effort in promoting domestic tourism in the country

He also disclosed that the National Leader of the Oodua People’s Congress OPC Otunba Gani Adams will be formally decorated as title holder in Osogbo,

Olumoko while briefing the Ataoja in council and other stakeholders at the  event said though the economic recession has  forced some of the corporate sponsors to back out but some organization including Nike Okundaiye Arts, MTN, Grand Oak Ltd, Nigerian Brewries, Osun state government and Olokun festival foundations did not abdicate their responsibilities on the festival

Apart from representatives of the sponsors, the event was also attended by traditional chiefs and other dignitaries from all Walks of life
